fASHION FOR DUMMIES
Mannequins frozen in a shop window in a moment of eternal reflection: unmoved and unmoving, uncomplaining, starved for attention, articulated but inarticulate. Smooth, sinuous, expressionless and anorexic. Deprived of sexual organs, defenseless and vulnerable, sometimes nonchalantly decapitated, often faceless and frequently armless. Naked between costume changes, manhandled by window-dressers, skeletal coat-hangers clothed by our fleeting desires, our mundane fashion fantasies. Obedient sphinxes imprisoned in a play of reflections and protected from the all-too-human charade on the other side of the glass, the passing parade they disdainfully ignore.
